Xi Jinping pointed out that, as China and the United States are perhaps the top developed economic countries, we now need cooperation between the two to move forward. I attach great importance in developing US-China relations, to create joint ventures with each other, and to push forward the relationship so as to benefit both countries and it’s people.
Donald Trump expressed gratitude to President Xi Jinping on winning the election for President of the United States. China is a great and important country and the prospects for furthering China’s development have attracted worldwide attention. There is no doubt that a US-China relationship will achieve results that will be mutually beneficial. We are all willing to work hard to develop, strengthen and maintain a cooperative relation between US and China.
The economic and trade relations between the US and China have always been the backbone of the US-China relationship. In May of 1979, both governments signed a trade relationship agreement that provides for mutual MFN treatment. The trade volume at that time between US and China stood at 2.45 billion USD. Now, 2017, the trade volume currently stands at 558 billion USD, which also nearly equals the volume between China and Europe. Many important issues arise between US-China relations such as the BIT (US-China Bilateral Investment Agreement) that will be discussed later on. We need to develop and improve strategic mutual trust and prevent misjudgment between US and China.
China and the United States must take advantage of this backbone to reflect on the relationship, to develop the relationship and to stabilize the relationship. We agree on one important aspect and that is to, “Make America Great Again!”

Recalling the commitment of the Chinese government:

During the Asia Boao Forum in March of 2015, President Xi Jinping iterated to esteem guests that included Bill Gates of Microsoft Corporation, numerous domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and enterprises that he personally hopes that entrepreneurs will continue to pay attention to the state of China’s economic development, to grasp the opportunities it provides, and to embark on a new journey of development. I estimate in the next 5 years that China’s imports of goods will exceed 10 trillion USD, foreign investment will exceed 500 billion USD and overseas tourism will exceed 500 million people.
November 19, 2016 the APEC Business Leaders’ Summit is held in Lima, Peru. Chinese President Xi Jinping was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech entitled “Deepening Partnerships to Boost Growth”, stressing that the Asia-Pacific should inject new stimulus into the world economic recovery. China has taken the lead in issuing the State Program for the Implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda (China Program). We will implement the development concept of innovation, coordination, green projects, transparency & sharing, comprehensively promote the implementation of the agenda, and continue to make positive contributions to the global and Asia-Pacific development. China’s economic development prospects are optimistic and are an opportunity for the world to benefit from. New estimates have placed China for the next five years with total imports reaching 8 trillion USD, total foreign investment reaching 750 billion US dollars, and outbound tourism reaching 700 million people. All of which will provide the world with a broader market, adequate capital, richer products, and valuable opportunities for cooperation.
September 22, 2015 Chinese President Xi Jinping in Seattle attended the third session of the Central American Governors Forum and reiterated the same speech given at the Asia Boao Forum stressing his forecasts and opportunities that are generated. It is generally known that China is currently in a trade surplus with the United States. If both countries started a trade war then more certainly China will be affected the most. To give an example, Walmart and Starbucks combined have approximately 3000 stores though out China, the Chinese auto industry accounted for 1/5 of General Motor’s net profit and should a trade war start between the US and China, then these companies are expected to be the first victims. The Chinese government’s commitment “to import more than US $ 10 trillion over the next five years” is enough to reduce the US $ 600 billion trade deficit with the other (US $ 300 billion).

The promise of the Chinese government has given us prospect and hope.

Now that Trump was elected president of the United States, the global market have been affected in that short-term risk assets are under pressure while long-term investments are positive for the US economy. Trump advocates for strengthening infrastructure, supporting high-speed railroad, and investing USD $ 1 trillion in infrastructure projects over the next decade. With both China and the United States developing their infrastructure (the United States and China have jointly developed third-party markets) this will also be successfully advancing themselves in the world; the United States benefits internationally and also benefitting the international infrastructure; Trump’s senior adviser shows to support “The Belt and Road” strategy. China intends to take advantage of this opportunity then promote this strategy globally. The apprehension China is facing at the moment currently is the election of Trump as president. Does his strategy to Make America Great Again involve a trade war with China? Will his decision cause international stress among the markets? Only time will tell of his actually strategies but at the moment, China is concerned over the prospect of a trade war and how to prepare for it should it come to fruition. Chinese President Xi Jinping iterates that:
We welcome the United States to strengthen relationship with China in a beneficial manner to each other. These measures will create opportunities for US-China local cooperation. I am pleased to see that in recent years, US-China regional exchanges and cooperation show a new booming trend of China’s 31 provinces and autonomous regions with the United States 50 states. According to the US statistics, China’s investment for the past five years have averaged annually of more than 80 billion USD. A total of 25 provinces in China have established direct relationships with a vast majority of the states of the US such as Pennsylvania, Oregon, Virginia, California, Massachusetts, Alaska, Kentucky, New York, Hawaii, Ohio, and many more. Take into consideration as well that some of the provinces have relationships with multiple states, not just one.
Since the beginning of the first relationship with Ohio of 1979, strides in development have risen sharply towards the end of the 21st century such as agriculture, automotive, information technology and so on. To give you an example of the extent of the relationships that the provinces of China have with the States are as follows:

Since the beginning of the first relationship with Ohio of 1979, strides in economic development have risen sharply towards the end of 21st century and still continue to grow currently. Agriculture, automotive, information technology, farming, textiles are just a few of the numerous fields that the relationships have worked on. Examples of the relationships that are current now are as follows:
